The Aldgate Coach House
Art, antiquities and fast European sports cars. Picture the opening sequence of The Italian Job
An entirely new build, allowing Garage Mahal the freedom to achieve the balance in style and function as was demanded by our client. With design cues taken from the architectural language of the existing home. With a stone facade, automated cedar barn doors and steeply pitched roof, the Coach House is homage to the European styles prevalent in and about the 18th century. The interior too, is designed to feel like a traditional 18th century outbuilding but with a refit with subtle contemporary cabinetry and mezzanine floor. It is complete with a toilet and wash facility, a 2 post and a 4 post Molnar hoist, integrated compressed air system and ducted dust and fume extraction. Part of the spaces storage is the massive central storage tower 3.4m x 1.2m x 5.8m! Everything required in a private workshop for the restoration of vintage cars.
